Foot The Coacher Comfort Moccasin Shoe

The first collaboration between Nepenthes and FOOT THE COACHER, the label of shoe designer Toshinosuke Takegahara.

Takegahara taught himself shoemaking while at art school. He started his own brand in 1994, and in 1996 trained at George Cox and Tricker's in England. He founded FOOT THE COACHER on returning to Japan, and has pursued his own approach to combining function and design across a number of labels since.

This model uses NEP-1816, an original last Takegahara cut specifically for the collaboration. The oblique toe is angled and roomy, so it does not fight the natural movement of the foot and stays comfortable over long distances.

The sole is a Vibram MONOLITE, which is light and flexes well. Goodyear welt construction gives it durability and makes it straightforward to repair and rebuild, so it can be kept for years.
