A-1 Jacket - Dk. Brown Wool Poly Heavy Tweed
The A-1 Jacket brings early flight-jacket proportions to dark brown wool poly heavy tweed. Its short body, button front and ribbed collar, cuffs and hem create a contained silhouette, while angled pocket flaps and a relaxed cut retain the practical character of the original design. The collar, cuffs and hem use 100% cotton knit that softens with wear.

About the design
The U.S. Army introduced the A-1 in 1927, when flight clothing had to provide warmth for early aviators. Its button front, patch pockets and knitted collar, cuffs and waistband established a recognizable short flight-jacket form that preceded the A-2.
Daiki Suzuki came to the A-1 after first knowing the better-known A-2. Its quiet design and relative lack of hardware appealed to him. The Engineered Garments interpretation retains the button closure and angled pocket flaps while giving the body relaxed proportions for layering.
The pockets and ribbed edges do much of the visual work: the flaps angle across the front, while the knit gathers the outline at the neck, wrists and waist. This combination gives the jacket its connection to aviation clothing without relying on a zip front.
