Nepenthes Los Angeles presents new handwoven hats from Ecua-Andino, made in Ecuador from jipijapa palm and finished with the Nepenthes Los Angeles name on the inner band.
Two styles are available. The Classic Panama, with its tight diamond-pattern weave, offers a clean and understated shape. The Hippie uses a relaxed brick-like weave and comes in natural and multicolor variations.
Ecua-Andino was founded in 1985 in Guayaquil by Alejandro Lecaro and Édgar Sánchez. Their work reflects centuries of Ecuadorian weaving tradition, despite the common misnomer “Panama Hat.”
Each piece is woven entirely by hand, giving every hat its own texture and character.
