Cheaney makes the Cairngorm on a Veldtschoen construction. The upper is turned outward rather than in, splayed to sit on top of the welt, and stitched through upper, welt, midsole and outsole together. Water slides off and follows the upper away from the inside of the shoe. The name is Afrikaans for field shoe.
