Maru Teppei is a fashion and portrait photographer originally from Tokyo, Japan. He completed his studies at the School of Visual Arts (Tokyo) while gaining seminal experience assisting several established photographers. Working under world-renowned photographer Craig McDean, Maru developed an extensive technical expertise of fashion and portraiture during these formative years. He fine-tuned a keen sense of beauty and honed in on how to orchestrate his surroundings to create arresting images. Maru’s photographs evoke a vivid sense of visual engagement with his subject - creating a bridge between fashion and portrait photography. His surrealistic aesthetics redefine the expression of beauty, capturing moments which in turn break free from the constrains of time. Based in New York, Maru also travels overseas for assignments.
